We were excited to have Becker's big brother, Ian, with us today! We had some festivities celebrating our last day together before winter break. The children especially liked decorating this contact paper tree. Adelyn sure does love shoes! She's so proud that she put mommy's slippers on! See everyone in 2015! So the past few days you may be wondering why there are no pictures or blog posts. The children and I have been talking a lot about the gift of giving. They have been very busy this week making holiday presents for their Moms and Dads. You'll have to wait a few more days to find out! Happy Holidays!
Leightyn and Owen had fun drawing treasure maps this morning. Leightyn's was very colorful and detailed. Here she is hiding out to secretly construct her map. I still have yet to find the treasure!
Klayden, Owen and Adelyn where having fun playing in our sensory bin full of oatmeal today and little Miss Addie decided to jump right in. I'm now having a difficult time keeping her out.
We had a silly, messy oatmeal morning. Adelyn ate her oatmeal like a big girl, all by herself! Klayden was one happy dude to be eating this rib-sticking good breakfast!
We went outside for a bit before the rain started. The children were happy that the warmer weather and lack of snow gave us the opportunity to ride bikes and cars. After rest time, we filled our sensory bin with oats. Klayden and Becker worked together, finding efficient ways to best fill an empty jug. Adelyn enjoyed covering herself up and eating the oatmeal. I don't blame her...it smelled really good. Gordon Ramsey has nothin' on these kiddos! Welcome to Monkey's Kitchen! Leightyn, Becker and Caleb spent the morning cookin' up some yummy dishes. You haven't lived until you try cabbage and french-fry ice cream! Adelyn played with the car ramp for the first time today. She enjoyed watching how far the cars rolled. I'm pretty sure she felt that the only down fall to this toy was that the cars don't come back by themselves.
Leightyn, Owen and Caleb were really interested in playing house today. They built a kitchen upstairs in the loft and had the whole family over for dinner. I love watching them deep in dramatic play. They display rich language and social interactions they've learned trough observing and interacting with their own families. Today their play consisted of locking their keys in the house, feeding their baby and giving her a bath, grocery shopping and forgetting their wallet at home, having a dinner party and helping build a room in their house, which I'm sure are all a mix of their experiences and observations in their real lives.
Now that Adelyn has mastered walking, she's interested and confident enough to start mowing lawn and vacuuming. What a little helper! It's a solid...it's a liquid...it's Oobleck! Owen and Becker had fun making it and experimenting with it! Adelyn and Owen took some time to snuggle this morning. Watching them melts my heart!
Queen Leightyn, Prince Becker and Sir Owen of Waunakee worked together to save their kingdom being attacked by a deadly dragon. Their imaginative play was amazing today! Adelyn went down the slide sitting up all by herself today. She was squealing with happiness and pride.
We had an artsy day today. The children wanted to paint this morning and chose watercolors as their medium. They made some great pieces to cheer up our gloomy day. We had fun playing an insect game involving letter identification before lunch. After rest time we worked on our 'I is for Insect'. We ink printed our finger tips to create lots of insects all over our letter I's. Adelyn is loving the swing and will ask for it now. Here she is, happy as a clam (how happy are clams?)!
We began working on the letter I this week. We created puffy paint ice creams today. Klayden was so proud of his...look at that handsome smile! The children made some great collaborative art by finger painting with the remaining paint. Dolly for a stroll...how about a helicopter?! You can tell the Adelyn has an older brother!
Boy, are we ever excited for Christmas! The concept of time is very difficult at this age. To help make better sense of how many days remaining until the big guy in the red suit shows up, we had fun making a Christmas countdown paper chain. They did a very nice job sharing the supplies and duties. 23 days to go!
Adelyn turned 1 today! Where did this year go?! She celebrated by sharing an owl cake made by her Grandma Shelley. Happy 1st birthday to my big girl!
We colored wooden planes and helicopters this afternoon that the children get to take home and play with. They were very excited! |
